Our Story

I remember the day I became aware that being surrounded by flowers could be my career. I was around 11 when I attended my first funeral. As I looked around, there was so much sadness, but my attention was captured by the beauty of all the blooms being delivered, and the joy they were able to carry with them. I wondered where they had come from, and how I too could be a part of their journey.

This is where my obsession with flowers began, being guided by the idea of finding a way to surround myself with them.

However the real seeds were planted in my mind much earlier. I grew up on a farm and my parents loved to garden. My childhood was filled with colour and finding the beauty in nature. I spent most of my time outside, barefoot and covered in dirt. I would walk the gardens picking small yellow buttercups that grew wild, making clover necklaces, and staring at ferns for hours, amazed at how it could grow so intricately and with so much symmetry.

I loved all the blooms, their colours, and the creatures they attracted. I was forever making friends with lady beetles, butterflies, and bees.

When the first opportunity arose to work with flowers, naturally I took it. After school, I would go to the local florist and work for the afternoon. I don’t know if I would really call it work, as I found myself daydreaming about what I might create next, and I couldn’t wait to get there and immerse myself in the magic and beauty that flowers bring.

This was 17 years ago, but my love for flowers is just as strong as that child’s in the field. I hope to never stop being in awe of the captivating colours, beauty, and elegance flowers offer.
